Wolfgang Mayer
Oversees Product Development / Head of Innovation Team
Wolfgang is the Managing Director of our partner laboratory, Medena AG. Since he joined Medena in 2005, he has been responsible for its growth in branded cosmetics and cosmeceuticals, as well as its professional reputation in contract manufacturing. Clients worldwide come to Medena for their innovation and reliability. Before joining Medena, Wolfgang has had more than 20 years of experience in diagnostic and pharmaceutical business sectors, most recently as CEO of Vitest AG of Zürich, where he was instrumental in the rapid start-up of in-vitro home testing devices. Prior to that, he occupied senior marketing and product development positions with several German companies, including DPC Biermann GmbH, Sanofi Diagnostics Pasteur GmbH and Pasteur Diagnostika GmbH. An ideas man who is never afraid to challenge the status quo, Wolfgang leads our innovation team and keeps things running smoothly in the lab with our chemists and suppliers.

Dr. Prof Sven Gohla
Head of Commercial R&D / Board member
Sven is an old friend of Alicia and Faiza from our days together at La Prairie, when he could always be trusted to simplify the science for us and appreciate the value of a good skin feel or a strong marketing angle. With a career start in medical devices, Dr. Gohla was at the heart of the success of the Nivea Visage, Eucerin Face, and La Prairie product portfolios as former Head of R&D for both Beiersdorf and La Prairie. He has an excellent reputation in the scientific community, with over 20 patents and 120 papers in dermatology, immunology and formulation technology. Dr. Gohla enjoys a strong scientific network worldwide and solid knowledge in product safety, regulation and European Cosmetic laws. He is currently a professor at two universities and runs Matahari, a consulting firm specialised in offering advice and know-how in R&D and technology to large, established pharma and beauty firms.

Dr. Liudmila Korkina
Lead Scientist / Evolutionary Science
Prof. Dr. Med. Liudmila Korkina, a Russian Academic and Full Professor in Biochemistry, is at the heart of our Evolutionary Science philosophy. Dr Korkina keeps us honest when it comes to natural, bio-available and skin compatible logic and her patience with us knows no limits. She is Founder & CEO of the Centre for Innovative Biotechnological Research in Moscow; Vice President of the International Society for Oral Chelators; and elected Member of the Society for Free Radical Research (Europe), and of Oxygen Society, USA. She was formerly Scientific Director of the Active Longevity Centre, Moscow; and until 2012 was Head of Tissue Engineering Department of Dermatology Institute (IDI IRCCS) in Rome, Italy. She is currently a member of Editorial Board of Advanced Wound Healing Journal; and has been recently elected as Board Member of the European Society of Anti-Ageing Medicine (ESAAM), responsible for scientific projects of the Society and scientific programs of its annual meetings. Dr. Korkina is the author of 20 patents, of more than 300 peer-reviewed articles, and of 20 chapters in medical books.

Dr. Chiara De Luca
Contributing Scientist / Regulatory and Claims
Dr. Chiara De Luca is a senior researcher in Skin Biochemistry and Physiopathology, and currently Medical & Regulatory Affairs Manager of Medena AG. Chiara oversees all the legal aspects of our formulations, she supervises their registration and she makes sure that we comply with claims regulations. It goes without saying that we enjoy many eruptions during discussions with Chiara, but we are ever so grateful for her oversight. Dr. De Luca obtained her Degree in Biochemical Sciences and her Post-Graduate Master in General Pathology at Rome 1st University “La Sapienza”, and then her International PhD in Skin Biochemistry at Moscow Russian State Medical University. In her 90 publications in applied and translational research in dermatology and cosmetology, she focused on functional and genetic markers of oxidative damage in environmental- and lifestyle-borne skin disorders and ageing, and on natural and plant-based bioactive compounds for evidence-based dermo-cosmetological applications. Chiara has contributed greatly to the organisation of our clinical trials, which will take place in early 2018.

A young Swiss gentleman, passionate, dedicated and hands-on, who helps us to move things forward. Thanks to Fabio, everything actually gets done. The ingredients are sourced from the reliable suppliers, the chemists submit their samples on time, the changes to each formula are made as we specify, bottle stickers are ordered in the proper sizes, leaflets are folded in the correct manner, no one is skimping on printing colors and most importantly, he orders the barcodes (Alicia still cannot get her head around that bit). The perfect diplomat, his hard work never stresses him and his smile is always a delight.
