Couperine
Origin: Plant and Biotech
INCI: Hydrolyzed Eruca Sativa Leaf, Hydrolyzed Opuntia Ficus-Indica Flower Extract
Couperine is a mix of bio-liquefied Eruca Sativa Leaf and Indian Fig flowers. Eruca Sativa (Rocket or Rucola) is an amazingly healthy green leaf and packs a punch of phyto-goodness due to its high content of skin benefiting vitamins (A and C), minerals (iron, magnesium and manganese) and polyphenols (rutin and quercetin). In Roman times Eruca was considered a notable aphrodisiac, with Virgil once saying “The rocket excites the sexual desire of drowsy people.” Meanwhile, Indian Fig (see Indian Fig page) was traditionally used by American Indian tribes to assist mothers during childbirth. It is fabulously rich in potent phyto-nutrients and a mix of polysaccharides such as arabinose and galactose, making it an excellent moisturizer and skin soother.
Couperine is rich in powerful anti-oxidants known to boost the natural production of Glutathione. Glutathione (GSH) is often referred to as the “Master Anti-Oxidant” as it is one of only five antioxidants that our bodies produce naturally. Glutathione is extremely efficient at protecting the skin from free-radicals and it performs both a preventative and a curative function, naturally strengthening the biological defense system in our skin, protecting it from redness and couperose, while also soothing and calming irritation. Couperine is a powerful detoxifier, moisturiser and protector for all skin types.
Why It's Pure
Both Rocket Leaf and Indian Fig Flower are still consumed worldwide internally through salads and teas to help boost the body’s natural immune functions.
Why It's Tech
Elixseri’s Indian Fig extracts have been obtained applying bespoke enzymatic treatment able to reduce the molecular size of the polysaccharides. This increases the bioavailability of the macromolecules and thus enhance their effectiveness.
Why It's Beauty
In vivo tests performed using Couperine extract on participants suffering from couperose (rosacea) showed a significant reduction of 10.5% of all symptoms (redness, itchiness, tightness), demonstrating its natural healing potential.
