Prebiotic Tropical Papaya Ferment
Origin: Plant and Lactobacillus
INCI: Lactobacillus / Papaya Fruit Ferment Extract
Delicious and exotic, Papaya has long been recognised for its impressive antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties. Christopher Columbus was a fan, referring to Papaya as the “Fruit of the Angels”, and that was long before anyone could prove the benefits of the potent actives found in the fruit. Fermented Papaya- or Paw Paw - is incredibly rich in skin friendly phyto-nutrients such as flavonoids, as well as vitamins and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, beta-carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin C and vitamin A. Various extracts and fermentations of Papaya have been used over the centuries to treat inflammatory pain from arthritis and rheumatism and to heal and repair skin wounds such as cuts, rashes, stings and burns.
Nowadays, papaya is one of the most researched fruits and it has lately been documented to exhibit anti-cancer effects and not toxic effects on healthy cells. Papaya fermented extract is considered a free-radical scavenger, with an anti-oxidant power 20 times greater than that of Vitamin E. In skin, Fermented Papaya extract has been proven to:
- Prepare skin to better receive and use other active ingredients
- Exfoliate dead cells and resurface the skin
- Smooth skin surface and promote skin regeneration
- Hydrate deeply and reduce trans-epidermal water loss
- Soothe stressed skin and reduce skin inflammation and redness
- Exhibit a potent anti-oxidant action to fight free radicals, preventing premature skin aging
- Clarify and brighten skin complexion
- Normalise skin microbiome
Why It's Pure
Our fermentation process is based on tradition and time: using whole fruit sections (the peel or seeds) which are the richest in micronutrients, and fermenting over long periods of 12 to 18 months to guarantee a more nutrient rich end-product.
Why It's Tech
Through the fermentation process, beneficial lactic acids and cyclodextrins are created which act as a natural preservative to the extract.
Why It's Beauty
Recent clinical studies have demonstrated that fermented papaya significantly reduces chronic skin redness through its beneficial action on the skin’s microbiome.
